The research opportunities and experiences at AMU have turned out to be both challenging and constructive. We say “challenging” in the sense that we have never encountered with economic theories as seriously as here at AMU. A new field of research has been opened up. We say “constructive” in the sense that while learning from dialogue with economists, we find that there is something that we can contribute to intellectual development in general and LIBEAC in particular by drawing out the (…)

Activity Report
At the European Society for the History of Economic Thought in a session dedicated to LIBEAC that I chaired.
Professor Han, could you please provide the material for Protisvalor and for the Internet Website ? I mean the abstracts and the great pictures that have been taken by professor Shim on these occasions ? That would be the best way to fulfill the requirements of the European Commission for our kind of programme, as well as to advertise your work and our programme on the Net.

Participation in ESHET Conference at Lausanne
12 June 20141) On May 28, 2014, we travelled to Lausanne, Swiss to participate in the ESHET 18th conference on liberalism. We are glad to report that we met many characteristic personalities through this international conference. First of all, Professor Alain Kirman who delivered the keynote speech was impressive in terms of the depth and broadness of his knowledge in economic thought as well as the style of presentation and response to questions. We had some opportunities to talk with him throughout (…)

GREQAM Presentation
12 June 2014Returning back to Aix-en-Provence, we worked together to prepare our joint paper to be presented, first, in GREQAM seminar and, secondly, in the upcoming ESHET conference. Reflecting from what we had learned from GREQAM seminars, namely the relevance of theories of justice for exploring a new dimension of liberalism with the focus on the economy, we paid attention to Habermas’ theory of communicative justice and began to explore its economic consequences with respect to a specific historical (…)

Space and Interaction at AMU
12 June 20141) Upon arrival at Aix-en-Provence, due to the lack of the full preparatory communication, we had to stay at Concorde Hotel from March 30 until April 16, 2014. We then moved in an apartment located at 9 Rue Mejanes, second floor, a small but furnished apartment at the center of the old city of Aix-en-Provence. The location could not be better. Thus, we finally began to enjoy our life very much.
2) During the day, we frequently went to AMU to study in the office 103 of the Building of Law (…) -
Active Participation in GRAQAM Seminars
12 June 20141) Consequently, we became active in participating in GREQAM seminars from the beginning. The first seminar was held on April 2, 2014 in which Dr. Luc Foisneau presented his idea of the Limits to contractualism paying attention to social inequality and ecological justice as well. Thus we shared good dialogue. Later, he sent us two of his recent papers written in English and it is our intention to stay in touch with him after we get back to Seoul and Beijing

New Encounter with Ecological and Intellectual Environments
12 June 20141)We came here with little knowledge of the region of Aix-en-Provence with respect to ecological and intellectual circumstances. To our surprise, Aix-en-Provence is so nice to live in terms of weather, air, water, traffic, and cultural heritages. Thus, we had some cultural excursions within the city as well as such regions as Luberon, Lyon, Arles, and Mountain St. Victoire.
2)Furthermore, we found that AMU had developed a distinctive taste in academic research in the field of economic (…)
