GREQAM Presentation

Returning back to Aix-en-Provence, we worked together to prepare our joint paper to be presented, first, in GREQAM seminar and, secondly, in the upcoming ESHET conference. Reflecting from what we had learned from GREQAM seminars, namely the relevance of theories of justice for exploring a new dimension of liberalism with the focus on the economy, we paid attention to Habermas’ theory of communicative justice and began to explore its economic consequences with respect to a specific historical change of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

2) In addition, we attempted to formulate the concept of “responsible liberalism” as a kind of “deliberative liberalism” and apply this concept to a new phenomenon we are interested in, that is, a stockowner-employee partnership (SOE partnership). Furthermore, we attempted to examine the empirical survey data we collected in 2012 from a corporate firm where the SOE partnership could be tested.

3) We collaborated to write a joint paper through this work and prepared a powerpoint for our presentation at GREQAM seminar in AMU on May 21, 2014. Interesting questions and comments were raised by Prof. Nicolas Gravel, Professor Claude Gamel, Professor Norbert Hirschauer and Dr. Malgorzata Dereniowska, among others. In particular, the comments by Prof. Norbert Hirschauer from Germany was centered on the relationship between externalization and internalization of risks produced by a social system. Thus, we had a constructive discussion even during the dinner time at a restaurant in the downtown of Aix-en-Provence. He sent us two of his recent papers and thus we would like to continue to exchange views in the future.
